In honor of the 113th birthday of National PTA, the Temecula Valley Council of PTAs recently recognized outstanding volunteers from across the Temecula Valley Unified School District. Nominees were submitted by participating school sites to receive special recognition for their outstanding service to the PTA organization and their commitment to children.
The three overall volunteers given special recognition for 2010 were: Elizabeth Harrigan, Rancho Elementary; Dennis Beato, Margarita Middle; and Joe Balleweg, Great Oak High School.
The National PTA is the oldest and largest volunteer association working exclusively on behalf of all children and youth. For 113 years, the National PTA has promoted the education, health, safety of children, youth and families. Temecula Valley Council of PTAs, now in its 21st year, represents more than 11,000 PTA members in the Temecula district, said spokeswoman Barb Burkett in a news release.
