San Jacinto man convicted of killing two women

A jury Tuesday convicted a San Jacinto man of murdering two women when he opened fire on a house in 2005.

Eric Michael Brittian, 23, faces life in prison without the possibility of parole for the Sept. 4, 2005, shooting at 550 W. Main St. in San Jacinto that killed Lori Flores, 27, and 20-year-old Olivia Avalos, according to a news release from the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.

Brittian fired as many as 15 high-power .308-caliber rounds from a rifle at the West Main Street home where two brothers lived. The men and their girlfriends, Flores and Olivia Avalos, both of San Jacinto, were standing near the doorway when both women were shot and killed, according to the release.

Before she died, Olivia Avalos told her boyfriend: “It was Eric” who fired the fatal shots, according to the release.

Investigators began looking for Brittian and an anonymous tip ultimately led to his arrest.

After his arrest, Brittian asked to speak to his father and investigators heard him tell his father, “They

got me.”

Brittian sentencing is scheduled for July 9, 2010, at the Corona courthouse.
