Authorities have arrested a 19-year-old man in Lake Elsinore on suspicion of murder after a Temecula woman was gunned down Wednesday afternoon, authorities said today.
Jose Adan Martinez was taken into custody in the 200 block of East Peck Street in Lake Elsinore, said sheriff’s Lt. Terry Hudson.
Deputy Melissa Nieburger said authorities have not determined the motive behind the shooting, but said the suspect did know the victim, who was identified Thursday as 20-year-old Maria Semental.
Officers responding to the call about 1:30 p.m. at the home in the 26000 block of Sonora Circle, found a woman inside her residence suffering a gunshot wound.
Medical personnel were summoned to the home and treated the victim before she was taken to a local area hospital. The woman was pronounced dead, Hudson said.

This shooting was down the street from my house, which is in a nice neighborhood. How sad that this young woman lost her life to this vile young man. What ever the quarrel was, it certainly was not worth the taking of a life. I hope he goes to prison for a very long time.
I have noticed that since the real estate bubble burst, we have had a lot more rental homes in our area which brings in the often not-so-great renters. With this has come an increased presence of police that I didn’t see several years back. Too bad they weren’t closer when this creep decided to murder. Glad he was caught though. Hope he rots.

Maria is my niece unfortunately we lost her at such a young age. Nobody should even dare to comment about things they don’t even know what the hell they are talking about.
