The Camp Pendleton fire that started yesterday morning and has burned more than 3,000 acres is 80 percent contained, according to a USMC news release.
The fire started at approximately 9:30 a.m. Tuesday during a training exercise on the base.
Basilone Road is now open to traffic and there is no threat to any of the surrounding communities or base facilities, according to the news release.
Current assets on hand include four Camp Pendleton Type III Brush Trucks and one Camp Pendleton water tender.
