The Ocean View Little League All-Stars from Huntington Beach will face the Waipio Little League All-Stars from Waipahu,
Hawaii, in the Western Region championship game in San Bernardino today in a game televised by ESPN 2 at 5 p.m.
The winner will advance to the Little League World Series held in Williamsport, PA.
Both teams have won four of their five games in the tournament, with Ocean View defeating Waipio, 2-1, in a pool play game Aug. 7.
Ocean View qualified for the championship game by defeating the Napa National Little League All-Stars from Napa, 5-2, in a semifinal Friday, avenging a 5-4 loss in a pool play game Tuesday.
Waipio defeated the North Scottsdale Little League All-Stars from Scottsdale, Ariz., 12-2, in the other semifinal Friday in a game shortened to four innings because of the 10-run rule.
Ocean View is seeking to become the seventh Orange County team to play in the Little League World Series and first since the Cypress Federal Little League All-Stars in 1998.
Ocean View won three tournaments to qualify for the Western Region tournament and have a 17-2 record.
