A 46-year-old Santa Ana man who allegedly tried to shoot his estranged wife in the head before their two sons tackled him was being held today without bail.
Jesus Beltran Millan was arrested Tuesday night and and booked on suspicion of attempted murder, said Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.
Millan was visiting one of his sons in the 1100 block of West Camden Place about 6:40 p.m. when he got into a dispute with his 41-year-old wife, Bertagna said.
The couple, who were married for 28 years, separated 11 months ago, Bertagna said.
“He told his estranged wife, ‘I want to get back together,’ and when she said, ‘No, I’ve moved to Las Vegas and I have a new boyfriend,’ he grabbed her by the hair and pulled a .45 semi-automatic pistol out of his waistband and pointed at her head, fired off three rounds and missed,” Bertagna said.
Their two sons raced into the room, tackled Millan and wrested the gun away from him, Bertagna said. The woman was unhurt, he added.
