44-year-old hiker rescued in San Jacinto Mountains

A 44-year-old man was rescued by helicopter today after falling about 20 feet from a hiking trail in Mountain Center near Idyllwild, according to a report by CalFire.

The man fractured his leg while hiking in the San Jacinto Mountains and was unable to make the 1.5-mile trek back to the trail head in Humber Park.

After being airlifted, the hiker was transported from Idyllwild to to Desert Hospital by ambulance.

The hiker, who name is not being released, is in stable condition, CalFire officials report.
