A man died today in a motorcycle crash on a highway near Palomar Mountain, and a second biker was seriously injured a half-hour later in an unrelated crash in the same area, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash occurred shortly after noon on California Route 76, just west of South Grade Road.
The road was closed while the CHP investigated the crash.
The second motorcyclist crashed about 12:30 p.m. on South Grade Road, and was hospitalized in serious condition, according to the CHP.
