Authorities continue search for missing hiker in San Jacinto Mountains

A Redondo Beach man was missing in the San Jacinto Mountains today.

Deputies with sheriff’s Emergency Response Team and volunteers with the Riverside Mountain Rescue Unit were searching the snowy mountains for 57-year-old Brian Carrico.

Members of the search party were looking for Carrico, reported to be a well-equipped and experienced hiker, in known shelters and campsites, sheriff’s Lt. Ruben Navarro said.

Carrico, a chiropractor, went cross-country skiing Saturday morning and called family members about noon, but has not been heard from since then.

Overnight temperatures were in the 20s on the flanks of the 10,800-foot mountain.
