Linda Vista woman, 89, homeless after residence is gutted by fire

Fire consumed a single-story home in Linda Vista today at 1932 Abbe Street and displaced one adult.

The house’s one resident, an 89-year-old woman, was taken to U.C. San Diego for treatment of smoke inhalation. Smoke and flames had already enveloped the house by the time crews from San Diego Fire Rescue Department arrived, spokesman Maurice Luque said.

A fire crew arrived to combat the flames after 9 minutes and 24 seconds. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze in 19 minutes.

The cause and damages have yet to be determined by investigators. No brown outs occurred as a result of the blaze.
