A suspected bomb found in the chimney of a Bay Terraces home today prompted authorities to clear the area and call a bomb squad.
The find was reported at 7221 Big Oak St. about 8:20 a.m., and nearby homes remained evacuated as of about 10 a.m., according to San Diego police spokesman Detective Gary Hassen.
At least one person was believed to have been arrested. Hassen did not say why a warrant was issued for the search. The San Diego Union-Tribune reported that the suspect had a criminal history involving explosives.
