What’s on for the Weekend: Fox, Festivals, and ‘Forever Plaid’

Taste of the Valley 2011

Come out and support Murrieta’s musical arts programs at this one-day event that includes great music, food and fun for the whole family. Festivities run from 1 to 6 p.m. June 5. Tickets are available at MLD Graphics, located at 25695 Jefferson Suite 12, and at Mary’s Hats & Things at 25285 Madison Ave. Suite 11.

Lake Elsinore Storm

The Lake Elsinore Storm is set to take on the Inland Empire 66ers at 7:05 p.m. June 3-4, before skipping out of town to take on the Lancaster Jethawks at 2 p.m. June 5. It’s a Going Green event on Friday with a free Showerhead Giveaway. And the Storm will be thinking pink on Saturday in honor of Susan G. Komen Night. Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival

The ever popular, much anticipated Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival kicks off this weekend out at Lake Skinner. Incredible entertainment, wine tasting, and dramatic balloon glows are just the beginning of this annual event. Festivities are on-going June 3-5.

“Forever Plaid” at Old Town Temecula Community Theater

Fun and uplifting, “Forever Plaid” tells the story of a 1950s quartet who meet a tragic fate on their way to “The Ed Sullivan Show,” and then return from the afterlife to perform one last concert. The result delivers some of the greatest hits of the 50s — “Catch a Falling Star,” “Three Coins in the Fountain,” “Love Is a Many Splendored Thing” and “Magic Moments.” Performances are scheduled June 2-5, 9-12. Elvis Tribute Contest at Pechanga Resort & Casino

The best Elvis Tribute Artists on the West Coast will gather for the official 2011 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest June 3 – 5 in the Comedy Club and Showroom Theater at Pechanga Resort & Casino. The winner of each gets the chance to compete at Elvis Week in Memphis, Tennessee on August 11-12 for the title of the best Elvis Tribute Artist in the world. The Pechanga Finals, showcasing the top scoring contestants from Friday and Saturday’s rounds, kick off at 6 p.m. on June 5 at the Showroom Theater. Tickets range from $20-30.

Country Rock Legends at Fox Performing Arts Center

It’s going to be a night of pure country and pure fun when Poco, Pure Prairie League and Firefall hit the stage at Fox Performing Arts Center on June 3. Tickets start at $25 and range up to $75 for VIP seating.

Bark for Books – Hemet Public Library

Bring the kids and let them experience the joys of reading to trained therapy dogs –they are great listeners – at the Hemet Public Library. The fun takes place from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
