A 79-year-old woman died in a house fire in Beverly Glen Saturday, and a 50-year-old man was injured, a fire department spokesman said.
The blaze in a two-story home in the 2100 block of Basil Lane, near Beverly Glen Boulevard, was reported at 3:35 a.m. and declared out about 4 a.m., Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
The woman was found in an upstairs master bedroom, Scott said. The 53-year-old home had no smoke alarms. Paramedics rushed the 50-year-old man to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The man was possibly the woman’s son, according to a videographer from Newsreel.
Arriving firefighters reported flames on the second floor. Arson investigators are trying to figure out how the fire started.
