Three men found dead in Thermal identified Sunday

Three men found shot to death in a field near the Torres Martinez Indian Reservation in Thermal were identified Sunday.

Edgar Huerta-Gonzalez, 24, of Gardena; Adrian Villa Avalos, 29, of Gardena; and Gregorio Villa-Santoya, 23, whose city of residence was unknown, were identified by coroner’s investigators, according to a department news release.

On Thursday, Riverside County sheriff’s deputies found a man with a gunshot wound near Van Buren Street and Avenue 61, Deputy Angel Ramos said.

The wounded man told them there were as many as three other injured people in a nearby field, Ramos said. It was unclear what else that man may have told authorities.

Deputies said he was hospitalized and in critical condition.

Later that day, sheriff’s deputies in a helicopter found three men dead near the northwest corner of Avenue 62 and Harrison Street, she said.

Detectives believe all four were shot by the same person.
