With the Fourth of July approaching, officials reminded the public today that it is illegal to point lasers at an aircraft or bring fireworks to airports.
“This may seem like common sense, but sometimes people just don’t think about it and they end up bringing what they consider to be ‘safe’ fireworks with them when they travel,” said Marshall McClain, president of Los Angeles Airport Peace Officers Association.
All fireworks are illegal in Los Angeles and should not be brought to an airport or packed inside luggage, McClain said.
And pointing a laser at an aircraft is a felony. It can distract or temporarily blind pilots, according to association.
