What’s on for the Weekend: Ribfest, Ronald Reagan and Rock n’ Roll

Here it is – the flag-waving, fun-in-the-sun, weenie-roasting Fourth of July holiday celebration that you’ve been waiting for! Check out some of the cool things happening around town on this super hot holiday weekend:

Fourth of July Parade in Temecula

Who doesn’t love a parade? Residents are invited to line the streets of Old Town Temecula for a good, old-fashioned Fourth of July parade. The fun kicks off at 10 a.m.  Then, let the fun continue at Ronald Reagan Sports Park where there residents can picnic, BBQ, listen to music and watch fireworks at 9 p.m.

Lake Elsinore Storm

It’s an annual tradition – enjoy America’s favorite pastime and then look to the sky for an amazing fireworks show.  The Lake Elsinore Storm is set to take on the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes at 6:05 p.m. July 4, with fireworks to follow after the game. The 16th Annual Pechanga Pow Wow

Free family fun is on tap at the 16th Annual Pechanga Pow Wow scheduled for July 1-3. Widely known as one of the largest Pow Wows in the western United States, the event features Native American’s dancers, drummers and singers of every age and stage. Guests will be treated to some of the best fireworks in the region on July 2. Parking is free.

Dunamix Dance Project

Presented by Temecula’s Dumanix Dance Project and billed as “ministry in motion,” the production is open to guests of every faith and devotion. Shows are scheduled for 6 p.m. July 1, 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. July 2, and 3 p.m. July 3 at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater. To learn more, visit www.temeculatheater.org.

Ribfest at Lake Elsinore High School

Pete’s Firehouse BBQ will be serving up a finger-licking good feast from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on July 2. There will be live music entertainment, games and activities for the kids, as well as a beer and wine garden. Admission is free. Come hungry!

Fourth of July Celebration at Soboba

The Temptations and the Four Tops will be on hand to celebrate the holiday weekend with performances at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on July 3. The day includes jumpers, clowns, vendors and food. Gates open at 4 p.m. Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m.

Ronald Reagan Centennial Celebration at Vail Lake

3800 Highway 79 South, Temecula ~ 951-303-0173

Michael Reagan will be on hand to celebrate his father’s President Ronald Reagan’s 100th birthday. Kite flying, three-legged races, water slides and mimes are just the beginning of this celebration planned at Vail Lake Resort in Temecula. There will be a tribute to country legend Johnny Cash with Cash’d Out and fireworks over the lake at sundown.  The event gets underway at 11 a.m. July 2.
