Authorities arrested a Homeland resident Saturday in connection with the June slaying of a Murrieta man whose body was found in a planter.
Deputies with the Riverside County sheriff’s Special Enforcement Team arrested Jorge Martinez, 42, in connection with the June 20 slaying of 47-year-old Sergio Corona, said Sgt. Michael Lujan in a news release.
Corona’s body was found in the 200 block of North D Street in Perris hidden in a planter, authorities said.
Information obtained from interviews and physical evidence linked Martinez to the slaying, Lujan said.
Authorities have not released details about how Corona was killed. Because the case is still being investigated, no additional information is being released to the public, Lujan said.
Martinez was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of murder.
Anyone with information about this case can call Investigator Ricardo Espinoza of the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit at 760-393-3500 or 951-955-2777.
