A free backyard composting workshop will be held at 10 a.m. July 9 at the Mission Trail Library, 34303 Mission Trail.
During the ‘how-to’ tutorial, master composters will show how to recycle organic resources such as yard trimmings, fruit and vegetable waste into a ‘dark crumbly, sweet-smelling soil conditioner,’ said officials with Riverside County Waste Management.
The compost can then be used to enrich the soil in home gardens, laws and house plants.
Riverside County residents will also have the opportunity to purchase low-cost compost bins during the workshop. A limit of three bins will be available per home.
For more information, call the Riverside County Waste Management Department at 951-486-3200.
