A man suspected of breaking into two Hemet homes and arming himself with a knife was apprehended by police early Saturday in the second home.
At 7:05 a.m., Hemet police received a call from a woman on Balsam Way in Hemet about a possible burglary in progress. Officers arrived at the scene and found Adam Soliz, 27, of San Jacinto, hiding inside the home, according to Cpl. Dan Reinbolt of the Hemet Police Department.
The suspect had a kitchen knife but discarded it when he saw the officers and was taken into custody without incident, Reinbolt said.
The woman told police that she saw a man in her backyard attempting to break into her home. She left her residence and ran to a neighbor’s home, where she called police.
Officers spoke with another neighbor, who said she encountered Soliz inside her home moments earlier, but that he ran out when she confronted him, Reinbolt said.
Soliz was arrested for suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property and violation of probation.
