House fire displaces Long Beach family, some pets go missing in blaze

A parrot was saved but two small dogs were missing in a fire that began in a garage and extended into a home in Long Beach Tuesday.

The fire was reported about 3 p.m. in the 1700 block of Rose Avenue, said Steve Yamamoto of the Long Beach Fire Department.

The human occupants were able to evacuate safely but the family was displaced.

The Red Cross was sent to assist them, Yamamoto said.
