A man arrested on suspicion of setting a fire at a motor home in North Hollywood is a suspect in more than a dozen recent arson fires, police said Tuesday.
The man was arrested in connection with a fire set at about 4:30 a.m. in the 7300 block of Farmdale Avenue, said Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Rick McClure.
The man’s name was not immediately released.
Authorities planned a news conference this morning to discuss the case.
“Early this morning, the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Arson Counter Terrorism Section, with the assistance of the Los Angeles Police Department made an … arrest of a suspect in connection with the recent numerous fires in the North Hollywood area,” according to a department statement.
The series of vehicle and structure fires — 14 have been reported — occurred on the mornings of July 21 through 24, starting around 3 a.m. each day, authorities said.
The fires broke out in the general area bounded by Lankershim Boulevard on the east, Vanowen Street on the north, Laurel Canyon Boulevard on the west and Burbank Boulevard on the south.
