A magnitude 3.1 earthquake rattled northern Los Angeles County today, according to automated earthquake detectors.
The USGS network of seismographs and data networks estimated the 2:16 a.m. quake to have been a very shallow temblor, with an epicenter 8 miles west of Grapevine
That would place it near the San Andreas Fault, about 13 miles northwest of Frazier Park, and 78 miles northwest of the Los Angeles Civic Center.
