Update: Lanes reopened on SB I-215 near Newport Road after three-car crash

Both lanes of the southbound Interstate -215 have reopened, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Both lanes of southbound Interstate 215 were closed Tuesday morning because of a three-vehicle crash near Newport Road in the Menifee area, authorities said.

Riverside County fire crews  extricated one person trapped in a crashed vehicle, according to a Calfire news release. Three others were taken to area hospitals, one with moderate injuries and three others with minor injuries, according to Calfire.

The crash was reported at about 10 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Traffic is reportedly backed up for several miles past the crash site.

Additional details were not immediately available.
