Murrieta man gets stolen motorcycle back after he sees someone riding it through town

A Mission Viejo man was arrested with a stolen motorcycle after the owner saw the bike at a Murrieta gas station, said Murrieta Sgt. Don Weller in a news release.

Murrieta Police got a call Monday at 4 p.m. from a man who had reported his motorcycle stolen four days earlier. He told police he saw someone on his motorcycle exit the Northbound Interstate 15/Cal Oaks Road off-ramp in Murrieta.

Officers searched the area and found the motorcycle at a gas station in the 40600 block of Cal Oaks Road, Weller said. Police ran the VIN number on the motorcycle and it was the same as the one reported stolen, Weller said.

James Stepp, 43, was arrested and booked on suspicion of possession of a stolen motorcycle, possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance.
