The Temecula Valley International Film and Music Festival is looking for Southern California dance crews to perform and to compete Sept. 16 and 17 throughout the Musicfest’s lineup.
It is the first time the 17th-annual event has featured a dance showcase and competition.
Musicfest Awards Gala Producer Monty Seward hopes the addition will help to draw a younger crowd to the internationally recognized event in Temecula. It also will help to create non-stop entertainment for attendees on both days.
“This is a chance to give your crew the exposure, experience and prizes that it deserves while having a great night with friends and family at an internationally acclaimed event,” Seward states in dance showcase materials.

Attendees at the free event will be able to vote on the crews to help decide the winner. Industry professionals also will weigh in. The winning dance crew will be given the opportunity to perform during TVIFF’s Black Tie Awards Gala at Pechanga Resort & Casino, which is attended by celebrities and film and music industry professionals.
Winners also will receive a professionally shot, multi-camera video recording of their gala performance.
As for the rules, participating dance crews must consist of at least two members and perform no more than a three-minute routine featuring all-original choreography. The music selection cannot contain profanity. The winner will be announced at the end of the Musicfest on Sept. 17.
In order to enter, each crew is required to create a Facebook event under the “TVIFF Dance Showcase” group page and invite their friend. The Top 10 crews with the most RSVPs on Facebook by midnight on Sept. 13 will perform during the Musicfest’s lineup of 16 unsigned recording artists. Crews must obtain a minimum of 20 RSVPs to be considered a candidate for a performance spot, and at least 75 percent of RSVPs are required to attend in order for the crew to compete.
The Musicfest runs 7 to 11:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, and 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17.
The Temecula Valley International Film and Music Festival seeks to present a wide spectrum of contemporary film making and music at their annual event. Almost 150 independent films from around the world will be screened inside the Ultra Star Theater at Tower Plaza, 27531 Ynez Road, while 16 burgeoning musicians will perform over two days.
The Musicfest features the top, unsigned finalists selected to perform. The musicians represent a wide variety of music genres.
