On the 10-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the U.S. Coast Guard advised of tonight’s drill so it will not be mistaken for an actual security operation, according to USCG Petty Officer 1st Class Allyson Conroy.

The training exercise for the Maritime Safety and Security Team was set to begin around 6 p.m. and will involve transferring personnel from an aircraft to Coast Guard vessels, the Coast Guard reported.

Several similar operations were held in the same area during the week.
