Riverside County’s Department of Public Health director, Susan Harrington, has been appointed as acting director for the Community Health Agency, county officials announced.

Harrington, 49, of Riverside, who has worked for the Department of Public Health for more than 20 years, was appointed Wednesday by Larry Parrish, interim chief executive officer for Riverside County.
She replaces Dr. Eric Frykman, who resigned Sept. 29 as director of the Community Health Agency and Riverside County Health Officer. Harrington will serve as acting director until a permanent appointment is made, said Jose Arballo Jr, spokesman for the county’s Department of Public Health.
As acting director, Harrington will oversee the county’s Department of Public Health, Department of Animal Services and Department of Environmental Health, Arballo said.
Harrington’s appointment follows the Riverside County Board of Supervisors’ selection Tuesday of Dr. Cameron Kaiser as interim health officer for Riverside County.
