A San Jacinto man was shot to death and authorities are seeking the person responsible, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said.
Officers responded to the area of East Esplanade Avenue and Hewitt Street at 4:07 a.m. Sunday to a call of shots being fired in the area, and after a thorough search of the area, officers located a man suffering from a gunshot wound about a mile from the original reported area, according to a department spokesman.
Officers summoned emergency personnel, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene, the spokesman said.
The man’s identity was not available Monday.
Detectives from the sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit and the San Jacinto Police Department assumed the investigation.
