A 26-year-old San Jacinto man was shot and killed in an unincorporated area of Hemet today, and deputies were looking for the gunman, a sheriff’s department sergeant said.
Deputies responded to a shots-fired call in the 22600 block of Alessandro Road at 12:22 a.m. and found John Hernandez lying in the road with several gunshot wounds, said Sgt. Brian Reno.
Emergency medical personnel tried to save Hernandez, but he was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:43 a.m., according to the coroner’s office.
Investigators from the Hemet station and the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit handled the investigation, Reno said.
Deputies urged anyone with information to call 951-955-2777 or 951-791-3400.
