Monte De Oro is set to release Legato, its inaugural red dessert wine, it was recently announced.
In musical terms, “legato” indicates that musical notes are played or sung smoothly and connected without any noticeable breaks.
Likewise, Legato’s smooth composition of Zinfandel and Cinsault resulting in a sweet, velvety finish is similarly defined.
The Zinfandel component comes from Monte De Oro’s Galway Vineyard; while the Cinsault component hails from the Tuclota Vineyard.
Monte De Oro’s 2007 Legato — barrel-aged in French oak barrels — is a jammy, deep, burgundy colored dessert wine. With its golden rim edges, the wine features a pleasant bouquet of raisins, black currants, and caramel with hints of clove and maple syrup.
Ripe plum, figs, brown sugar, ripe cherries with toasted nuts, vanilla and tinges of black licorice are among Legato’s vibrant flavors.
