Banning: Fire damages garage, knocks out power for a few

A structure fire in Banning damaged a garage, shed and trash bin today, and one person suffered from smoke inhalation, a county fire department spokeswoman said today.

The fire was reported at 1:28 p.m. in the 500 block of West Wilson Street, and two structures and power lines were burning, according to Jody
Hagemann of the fire department.

Nineteen firefighters from six engine crews responded, and the blaze was contained by 2:20 p.m., Hagemann said.

“Eleven residents will be without power for up to 12 hours while the utility company makes repairs,” she said.

The cause of the fire was being investigated.
