Authorities have seized more than 10,700 counterfeit NFL jerseys at Los Angeles and Ontario international airports since September, U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported today.

The combined estimated manufacturer’s suggested retail value of the garments is $847,000, said CBP spokesman Jaime Ruiz.
“Counterfeit sports apparel typically looks similar to brand-name jerseys, but are cheaper and of poorer quality,” said Todd C. Owen, CBP’s
director of field operations in Los Angeles.
Inspectors seized 304 parcels containing counterfeit NFL jerseys at air cargo consignment locations at LAX and at Ontario International Airport between Sept. 8 and Wednesday of this week, Ruiz said.
