A man suspected of holding his girlfriend in his San Jacinto home and beating her repeatedly was behind bars today.
Sonny Joseph Mazon
Sonny Joseph Mazon, 24, was arrested late Wednesday night and booked on suspicion of attempted murder, false imprisonment and making terrorist threats.
He’s being held in lieu of $1 million bail at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.
According to Riverside County sheriff’s officials, deputies were called to Mazon’s townhouse at 1547 Willowcreek Loop around 8 p.m. Wednesday to investigate reports of spousal abuse.
When deputies arrived, they discovered a 47-year-old woman with serious physical injuries, which she alleged her boyfriend, Mazon, had inflicted while holding her captive, a sheriff’s sergeant said.
The victim, whose identity was not released, was transported to a hospital for treatment and is expected to recover, according to the sheriff’s department.
Mazon was questioned and booked into the county jail.

My Cousin Sonny J. Mazon, is in a coma with very little activity in his brain. while under sucide watch with the banning sherriffs dept. sunday, they didnt find him in time and he had a heart attack. NO ONE IN THE FAMILY WAS CONTACTED!!!! not for THREE DAYS!!! We had called Court House , Holding stations and every clerk that would listen and NO ONE would let us see him or tell us he already attempted Suicide- SUNDAY. He was alone and had no idea everyone of us were trying to make desprate contact….To make matters worse the day we find out(yesterday) we are told we can see him only to have the hospital tell us he was not there-till the ER called the Sherriffs Lt. and was told “WHO TOLD THE FAMILY HE WAS THERE?”>>>WTF-REALLY?……After seeking advice from Gloria Allresd’s office, Calls to CNN, CBS, and very Ranking Officers at the sherriffs dept – WE GOT TO SEE HIM. it’s BAD, the outloook is negative-while we try to sort this out please post to andy page for every lawyer or kind hearted individual with abilities to find what occoured for real-the cops change stories and we dont deserve lies…Sonnny was asstranged from all his blood family for a year while this low-life older woman preyed on him and drain this IRAQ WAR VET’s BENIFITS untill nearly gone and still attempts to retain his property now…over 20 yrs his senior this woman new what she was doing!!! AS A VET WHO SERVED YOUR COUNTRY RETURNING WITH PTSD THIS IS HOW OUR COUNTRY INVESTIGATES AND TREATS THE GOOD GUYS IN THEIR CARE- this system is beyond flawed…BUT THIS IS AMERICAN AND OUR COUNTRY- ITs : “WE THE PEOPLE” We need to DEMAND better for our VETS and OURSELVES!!!!!

I’m saddened to read about your cousin Sonny J. Mazon but no one in any authority in the city of San Jacinto could care less because the whole sity is under corruption revealed in an audit investigation of the city manager and city personnel. Attend the city council meeting(s) and make your concerns known to the public and on record.

I’m sorry about Mazon. I was lucky enough to be in his platoon and be a friend of his. I wish he would have stayed in because he was a good soldier and the Army kept his nose clean. The few of us left in the platoon from back then still talk about him occasionally.

Sonny was an awesome guy. I served with him and never thought anything like this would happen. We all battled for Mazon to stay in the Army knowing if he got out he would end up in trouble. He will be missed. P.S. Sonny was a vet of Afghanistan, not Iraq.
