San Jacinto: Man robs 7-Eleven using hammer

A hammer-wielding man who robbed a San Jacinto convenience store was at large today.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, a masked suspect walked into the 7-Eleven at 1490 S. San Jacinto Ave. around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and brandished a hammer at the clerk.

The man threatened to hit the employee if he didn’t open the cash register.

The victim complied, and the suspect grabbed a handful of cash and lottery tickets, then fled, sheriff’s officials said.

Deputies arrived a short time later but were unable to locate the suspect, who was described as an Hispanic man in his early 20s, with a medium build, wearing all black, including a black beanie and a bandana covering his face.

Anyone with information about his identity or whereabouts was urged to call the sheriff’s San Jacinto station at 951-654-2702.
