Rainy Monday on tap for Southwest Riverside

Today’s slight chance of rain tonight in Riverside County should grow stronger on Monday, the National Weather Service predicted.

The NWS forecast partly cloudy skies with a chance of measurable precipitation at 30 percent tonight, and increasing clouds overnight with a low about 43 degrees.

A wind advisory was in effect through Monday morning with locally strong and gusty west winds predicted for the mountain and desert areas.

The rain chance increases to 60 percent in the region by Monday with showers likely after 10 a.m., according to the weather service.A high wind watch was in effect from Monday afternoon through Monday night, with winds at 15-25 mph in the afternoon and strong, gusty west winds possible for mountain and desert areas.

The NWS reported that showers should continue Monday night, with severalinches of snow possible in higher mountain elevations at 5,500-6,000 feet.

The rain is expected to leave the region Tuesday, with mostly sunny  skies and highs near 60 degrees predicted, according to the weather service.
