Cathedral City police today sought a gunman in a car-to-car shooting.
The shooting in the 33300 block of Shifting Sands Trail was reported about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Sgt. Albert Ruiz said.
“It appears the victim was driving southbound near the intersection of Shifting Sands Trail and Ortega Road,” Ruiz said. “For no apparent reason, the occupant in the full-size truck opened fire, striking the victim in the upper torso.”
The name of the wounded 33-year-old victim was withheld. He was being treated at Desert Regional Hospital, Ruiz said.
The suspect vehicle was newer, dark-colored full-size pickup truck, possibly a Toyota Tacoma.
What may have motivated the attack was not made available, but police said the shooting was not gang-related.
