Indio: Two house fires spark investigation

A fire damaged two homes in Indio today, and one person was treated for apparent smoke inhalation.

The fire broke out around 2:10 p.m. in the 83300 block of Emerald Avenue, Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann said.

The blaze at one structure was contained around 2:30 p.m., and the other was contained about 10 minutes later, she said.

The cause of the blazes was under investigation.

About 45 firefighters were sent to the scene, Hagemann said.
