A traffic collision that left one person dead today may have been the result of racing, authorities said.
According to a Riverside County Sheriff’s report, a black BMW sedan rolled over, causing the driver to be ejected from the vehicle just after 1 p.m. on Sunday on Lincoln Street, west of Sunswept Drive.
Lake Elsinore police officers arrived on scene and found that the driver of the vehicle was not breathing and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver’s identity is being withheld pending notification of family members.
The preliminary investigation at the scene revealed the driver of the BMW may have been racing another vehicle prior to the collision.
The second vehicle left the area prior to the officer’s arrival.
The vehicle was described by witnesses as a silver convertible Honda.
