Suspects sought in Coachella auto parts store robbery

Deputies were looking today for two armed men who robbed a Coachella auto parts store while customers were inside, according to a sheriff’s department spokesman.

The robbery was reported at 7:22 p.m. Saturday at Kragen Auto Parts, 51-339 Harrison Street, said sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Castro.

Two men wearing bandanas over their faces entered the store and ordered the occupants at gunpoint to the ground, then took an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register and wallets from two customers before running away, Castro said.

No one was hurt during the incident, he said.

Witnesses described the suspects as Hispanic males in their 20s, average height, thin build and last seen wearing dark clothing and bandanas covering their faces. They were carrying a shotgun and dark handgun.

Sheriff’s investigators encouraged anyone with information to call 760-863-8990 or Crime Stoppers at 760-341-7867.
