Boy allegedly abducted by dad found safe in Idyllwild

UPDATE: Boy found safe and is being returned to his mother. His father is in custody, officials reported.  They were found in Idyllwild by a sharp-eyed citizen.

Original: Officers from the San Jacinto Police Department are on the hunt for 25-year-old Anthony Smith-Dixon, who snatched his child, Domenic Smith, 5,  from a child care facility located in the 1900 block of Tennyson Street in San Jacinto on March 22, officials reported.

The boy’s mother had court ordered custodial rights and even obtained a separate restraining order out of fear of Smith-Dixon.

“An amber alert will be put into effect, if it hasn’t already,” Riverside County Sheriff Deputy Albert Martinez said while en route to meet with investigators in San Jacinto.

Smith-Dixon is believed to be driving a gold early 2000 model Saturn 4-door sedan.  The driver’s side door panel may be missing due to a recent accident.

The kidnapper is an African-American adult male, approximately 6’3” tall, 185 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a thick black and white jacket and dark colored pants, a report stated.

The little boy is described as an African-American male, approximately 3’6” tall, 50lbs., black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a brown shirt with an unidentified logo on the front and blue pants.

The investigation is ongoing and the public is urged to call the San Jacinto Police Department at (951) 654-2702 with any information regarding this case.
