No one was hurt in a fire today at a double-wide mobile home in Thousand Palms, according to a CalFire spokeswoman.
The blaze was reported at 2:27 a.m. in the 30000 block of Sierra Del Sol, CalFire’s Cheri Patterson said.
There were 21 firefighters who quickly contained the fire to the bedroom where it started, and the damage to the home was estimated at $10,000, with an estimated $70,000 in damage avoided, Patterson said.
CalFire investigators determined the cause to be an extension cord improperly placed under a mattress in the bedroom, she said.
