Michelle’s Place to host free educational seminars

The public is invited to attend a series of free educational seminars hosted by Michelle’s Place, a Temecula-based breast cancer resource center:

Coping with Grief — 10:30 a.m. on March 27

Chaplain Augustin will discuss the spiritual pain due to loss.  Participants will identify ways in which spirituality is used to cope with pain due to loss. Spiritual pain may come about when one’s spiritual relationships “with other people, with oneself, with the world around, or with ‘Life’ itself is traumatized or broken”. One may feel pain caused by the shattering of one’s beliefs about faithfulness, hope, love, security, etc.  The connection is often made between spiritual pain and meaninglessness.

The Latest in Breast Cancer — 6 p.m. on April 5

Dr. Amy Bremner, MD who specializes in Oncoplastic breast surgery techniques and uses a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of breast cancer will discussing breast disease, current research trials, new imaging modalities and the new breast center in Murrieta.  Maria Delmaciao, Nurse Practioner is passionate about breast health and works closely with her patients educating them about the latest treatments, tests and health news.  Maria will be discussing Risk Assessment for breast cancer. A question and answer session will follow the seminar.

Why Exercise & Nutrition are Key for Recovery — 10:30 a.m. on April 18

Anneke Marvin has been a trainer in Temecula Valley for nine years and currently owns CrossFit Temecula South with her husband, where they train everyone from professional athletes to individuals with severe injuries and physical limitations.  She will discuss the physical effects of chemo and radiation and how exercise and nutrition are a key to recovering from breast cancer and having a solid quality of life going forward.
