They were wet and muddy, but smiling.

The five friends, mothers and Stroller Strides members — Riverside residents Danika Egizi, Dana Olague Kaylean May, and McKown, as well as Rancho Cucamonga resident Jessica Ryan — were part of the 11,500-strong contingent of competitors who braved the Warrior Dash mud run event Saturday at Lake Elsinore’s Diamond Stadium.

All were sporting hot pink T-shirts, which read: “Run like a girl … Sexy, Strong, Unstoppable.”

The group of friends said they had workouts together to help prepare for the event. They said it was fun helping each other out on the obstacles.

“The water was the most difficult because it took your breath away,” Olague said.

Runners were rewarded with a turkey leg, free cup of beer, T-shirt and warrior hat for their efforts.
