Authorities seek help identifying hit-and-run driver

Authorities are looking to the public for help identifying a motorist who ran over a motorcyclist on a Riverside freeway, killing the man.

The hit-and-run occurred about 2 a.m. last Wednesday at the 60/91/215 interchange, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Colin Roche, 26, of Riverside was riding his 2001 Suzuki motorcycle north on Interstate 215, preparing to exit onto a transition road when he apparently lost control and hit the center median wall, authorities said.

Roche was ejected from the bike and landed in southbound lanes on Interstate 215, where he was struck by the driver of a Honda Civic, suffering fatal injuries, according to the CHP.

The motorist did not stop after hitting him.

The four-door Honda, manufactured between 2007 and 2011, is white and sustained major damage to the left front side as a result of the accident, the CHP stated.

Anyone with information on the accident was urged to call the Riverside CHP office at 951-637-8000.

“Roche was EJECTED from the bike and LANDED in southbound lanes on Interstate 215, where he was struck by the driver of a Honda Civic, suffering fatal injuries, according to the CHP.”

Really? So after being forcibly thrown and landing on concrete at whatever rate of speed he may have been traveling the authorities believe a vehicle hitting him is the final straw that killed him?!

In response to Temecula Paralegal’s comment, your tone indicates that the hit-and-run driver’s action of fleeing the scene of an accident in which Roche was struck by the driver of a Honda Civic which sustained major damage to the left front side was acceptable. How callous, to say the least. And, yes, being hit by the driver of the Civic may just have been the “final straw” providing him with injuries fatal enough to kill him instantly. That doesn’t mean the driver would necessarily be responsible for the death since it would take extraordinary driving skills to avoid a person who suddenly lands in the driving lanes on a freeway.

There’s no excuse for the Civic driver’s failure to stop at the scene, and at minimum call for medical assistance for the injured person.

I agree w/ Books. I have been in a motorcycle accident and survived. Fortunately no-one ran over me. No one stopped either. Don’t know what’s wrong with people.

Wow at the Honda Civic driver, just wow… they were obviously a very bad person, the kind I’m afraid of sharing the road with and the earth…if you don’t have the decency to to call for help for someone you had a part in injuring then God and karma will keep at you until you come forward…just saying. How is this person living with themselves?
