At least one person was killed today in a traffic crash that closed a section of state Route 79 near Vail Lake, between Temecula and Aguanga.
California Highway Patrol officers reported that the crash was about 12:30 p.m. just east of Sargent Drive, blocking the roadway, and the CHP issued a SigAlert and closed the roadway in both directions at about 1 p.m.
Traffic was backing up and officers were turning around drivers on the two-lane road near the crash.
There are no roads around the isolated site.
