The American Cancer Society is looking for volunteers and teams for the third annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk on April 28 at The Shoppes at Chino Hills. Volunteers are needed in a variety of roles for event leadership, committee assignments, and day-of event support positions. Teams are needed from the community to bring breast cancer survivors and coordinate walkers.
“We are so proud to bring this nationally acclaimed program to our community of the Inland Empire,” said volunteer event chair Chris Bravata, whose wife Jamie was diagnosed in 2005 and continues her fight with breast cancer now.
“There is so much we can do for our neighbors, families, and companies through Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Anyone can get involved and help our community fight back against breast cancer. Just give us a call and we will help you find a match for your interests, skills, or schedule. Please come join us,” he said.
Last year, approximately 4,000 attended the Inland Empire event, with dozens of breast cancer survivors. Since 1993, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer has been the American Cancer Society’s rallying cry to raise awareness and money to fight breast cancer.
In that time, four million walkers have raised more than $280 million through Making Strides, supporting the Society’s many free patient services and renown cancer research program. The Inland Empire event will be a non-competitive walk over two miles.
The American Cancer Society is joined by The Shoppes at Chino Hills; Target; Riverside Medical Clinic, Metro Honda, and Clear Channel Radio including KGGI Radio 99.1, The Toad 1350 AM; Smooth Jazz 94.5; 103.3 FM Classic Rock; and Funny Radio 1440 a.m. in taking a leadership position in the community’s fight against breast cancer.
