A San Diego man was identified today as the person who was killed in a traffic crash that closed a section of state Route 79 near Vail Lake.
William Dandalides, 66, was riding a motorcycle that struck a parked truck. He was thrown into oncoming traffic and was hit by another truck at 12:39 p.m. Saturday.
The crash was on state Route 79 about three-quarters of a mile west of Vail Lake Road, between Temecula and Aguanga, according to the coroner.
He was pronounced dead at the scene about 20 minutes later.
The road between Temecula and Aguanga was closed for three hours Saturday afternoon as CHP officers investigated.
