When it comes to serving women fighting cancer, there is no time for dawdling. And so Michelle’s Place — a Temecula-based breast cancer resource center – is gearing up for a busy schedule of activities this spring.
According to Executive Director Kim Goodnough, anticipation is building for the upcoming events designed to bring awareness to breast cancer and support local women and families impacted by the disease.
“We’re just really excited here. Everyone is excited and planning,” Goodnough said.
The upcoming 2nd annual Reality Rally fundraiser, led by “Survivor: Gabon” Gillian Larson and planned for Apr. 13-15, has the potential to raise thousands of dollars for the organization.
“The team is working feverishly on all of the details (for the Reality Rally). This year we are keeping it in Old Town, so that (the contestants) are all competing on the same scale,” Goodnough said.
Additionally, Goodnough said plans are also currently underway for the annual Spring Fling Mardi Gras celebration planned for May 12 at the Humphreys Estate.
Guests will gather for a good cause, decked out in their finest black and pink attire.
A no-host cocktail reception and silent auction will start at 5 p.m. Guests will enjoy jazz music and dance performances by Embody Studios.
At 7 p.m. guests will enjoy a southern meal in a New Orleans Square setting.
Proceeds from the event will help fund the free programs and services provided by Michelle’s Place to women and their families dealing with breast cancer.
Tickets are $60 per person. Tables of eight are available for $480.
Goodnough said that tickets are now available on the website.
Michelle’s Place regularly hosts seminars, classes and workshops that are free for cancer survivors.
