Beers, who died unexpectedly in September last year, had been manager of the city’s Old Town Temecula Community Theater since the venue’s opening in 2005.
Beers’ wife Susan McLaughlin raised money to purchase the sculpture of a poised dancer and spoke at Tuesday’s meeting.
Bea Barnett, who recently was named the new manager, is thankful for the reminder the memorial sculpture will bring for theater patrons.
“For those of us fortunate enough to have known Bruce, his omnipresence is ever present,” Barnett said in an email. “And for those generations and patrons that did not get the honor of meeting this brilliant and creative man, this beautiful sculpture represents the passion and dedication Bruce had for the performing arts and the importance of culture in our lives.”
The statue will be installed outside of the theater.
