What’s on for the Weekend: Festivals, furry friends and concerts

Take your pick of a multitude of outdoor festivals and local concerts this weekend in Southwest Riverside.

While there are far fewer events going on compared to last weekend, there is still a healthy handful of varied events to entertain all ages. Find out more below.

Benefit concert at Wilson Creek Winery

“The Voice” contestant Erick Macek and singer-songwriter Alaina Blair will perform Friday to help bring awareness to childhood literacy. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Rotary Club of Temecula’s literacy program. The concert is slated for 7 p.m.  Tickets are $20 and include music and food. Taste of Temecula Valley

Find a handful of the area’s wineries, microbreweries and restaurants in one place this Saturday for the second-annual Taste of Temecula Valley fundraiser. Proceeds go toward Temecula-area schools. The daylong, rain-or-shine event runs 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. in Temecula’s Town Square, located outside the Civic Center. Tickets are $10; free for children age 12 and younger. Temecula Wine & Music Festival

The eighth-annual music and wine tasting event on Saturday will feature Grammy-nominated and award-winning artists. Blake Aaron, Eric Valentine, Ray Parker Jr., Deniece Williams, Kanzaki, Gregg Karukas, East Bay Soul, Paul Brown, Darren Rahn and Michael Paulo, among others, are slated to perform at Vail Lake Resort, 38000 Highway 79, in Temecula. Food and wares vendors also will be on hand. Apaulo Music Productions and KMYT-FM (94.5) are presenting the event, which runs 11:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Doors open at 11. Paul Anka at Pechanga

The legendary crooner will take the casino’s indoor theater stage at 8 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $70-$95, available online, at the casino’s box office or kiosks or by phone at 877-711-2946. Concerts at Old Town Temecula Community Theater

It’s going to be a big weekend at Temecula theater, starting with the Bayou Brothers on Friday, Roger Chase and Michiko Otaki on Saturday and “Crooners: A Swingin’ Salute to Frank Sinatra & the Legends of Las Vegas” on Sunday. For ticket prices and more information, visit temeculatheater.org.

Dog Day at the Diamond

Bring your furry friend to Diamond Stadium this Sunday for Dog Day. For $12, receive a reserved seat ticket for you and your dog. Additional tickets are $9 in advance or $10 the day of. The promotional event will feature pre-game wiener dog races and in-game demonstrations. Dogs must be leashed. The Lake Elsinore Storm return to the Diamond starting Friday for “Man I Love Fireworks Fridays,” featuring a free fireworks show following the game. Saturday’s game falls on Social Media Saturdays, which features in-game social media contest and activities.
